  • Clay County Burn Ban in Effect

    With unusually dry conditions indicating a substantial increase in wildfire probability and pursuant to Ordinance numbered 04-1, the County Manager of Clay County issued a burn ban today that will remain in effect until further notice. "Our Mission, through the delivery of programs and services, is to protect the lives and property of our citizens and visitors from the adverse effects of fire, medical, environmental, and other emergencies, both natural and man-made, while providing a safe and healthy work place."

The Clay County Department of Public Safety staffed by 181 dual certified (fire and EMS) career personnel, and approximately 60 county volunteer firefighters oversees the operation of 12 Fire Stations housing 12 Advanced Life Support or ALS Engines, 1 ALS Ladder, 9 ALS Rescue Units, 7 Water Tenders, and 9 Brush/Woods Units.  In 2015 the Department’s 10 Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) trained Communications Specialists received and handled 23,417 911 calls for service.
